Our KCHCC Energy and Ag Students toured the Kern County Water Bank and White Wolf Potato Company to observe potato processing and picking, over the weekend. It was another amazing journey for the students to gain insight to better understand our local agricultural industry.

Grand Opening of the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House

A HUGE congratulations to the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House on their newly renovated home! Located on Memorial Hospital's campus, the house offers families a place to stay while visiting loved ones in Kern County hospitals. The expansion features six rooms with the goal of making family members feel at home while staying close to their little ones.

Earthquakes in Ridgecrest

We would like to send our gratitude to all of the first responders, elected officials, and volunteers who assisted with the earthquakes in Ridgecrest. Senator Shannon Grove and Congressman Kevin McCarthy have been spending countless hours in the Ridgecrest community, ensuring their constituents are heard and cared for.

According to the Red Cross, there are 129 people at the Kerr McGee Community Center in Ridgecrest. They currently have sufficient food and water but are looking for a backup shelter site if needed. Supplies are being provided by LA and Kern County.

The Red Cross is asking that residents do not send any donations right now, but await instructions from the organization as the current situation makes it difficult to process the donations at the emergency shelter. If people still would like to help out, the Red Cross is accepting monetary donations on their website and volunteers are welcome.
